The Work
Infrastructure for the living world
What happens to the science after the expedition? Environmental Alliance builds the connective tissue between discovery and action.
GEOSPATIAL INFRASTRUCTURE
Built on Esri ArcGIS and AWS, Environmental Alliance's mapping and data architecture makes biodiversity and environmental science legible at every scale — from a single watershed to a global index. Science that can be seen can be acted upon.
COALITION BUILDING
Environmental progress has stalled in part because its advocates speak in fragments. EA works across organizations, awareness days, and disciplines to build the shared infrastructure that makes collective action possible.
COMMUNITY SCIENCE
The gap between field research and community decision-making is where most environmental science is lost. EA's work in community-based social marketing bridges that gap — turning data into action at the local level.
The Platform
One planet. One framework.
Environmental Alliance operates across a portfolio of interconnected initiatives — each addressing a specific gap in the movement's infrastructure. The Global Environmental Index provides a scientifically rigorous, annually updated, geospatially grounded measure of environmental health by country. The UN awareness day network creates a unified calendar of attention. The Succession Program builds the next generation of environmental leaders through a structured, multi-organization internship pipeline.
These are not separate projects. They are components of a single operating system — one designed to make the environmental movement more effective, more inclusive, and more durable than any individual organization can be alone.
Who We Work WIth
Environmental Alliance serves as a connector and infrastructure provider across a broad range of partners — scientific institutions, conservation organizations, municipal governments, indigenous land stewards, and private sector actors who have concluded that the health of the living world is inseparable from their own long-term interests.
We do not accept government funding at any level. This is not an ideological position — it is a practical one. Independence is the precondition for credibility across the political spectrum.
